Evans, Amy
Amy Evans completed a Master’s degree in Writing for Performance at Goldsmiths College in London in 2002 and went on to collaborate with Context Theatre Company, the Tricycle Theatre and the Red Room on various projects before returning to Berlin to teach a playwriting seminar as a guest lecturer at Humboldt University. Her award-winning first play, Achidi J’s Final Hours, had its world premiere at the Finborough Theatre of London in May 2004. Based on the true story of a young Senegalese woman who was shot to death by German police officers in 2001, Achidi J’s Final Hours is the first in a trilogy of plays addressing the issues of displacement, movement and motherhood around the globe. She is currently based in New York City where she continues to write plays and teach.
